CPIML Jharkhand State Committee Held in Ranchi

The two-day State Committee meeting of the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation concluded in Ranchi (Hatia Guest House) on 13–14 June. The meeting witnessed significant participation, including the joining of hundreds of people associated with the movements in Khunti and Gondalpura (Hazaribagh), reflecting the expanding base of ongoing struggles against displacement, agrarian distress, and state repression.

The meeting reviewed the prevailing political situation in Jharkhand and across the country and resolved to intensify struggles on key issues of democracy, livelihood, and rights. The CPI(ML) Liberation reaffirmed its commitment to the INDIA bloc and announced that its MLAs in Jharkhand will vote in favour of the INDIA alliance candidates in the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections. The party expressed confidence that the INDIA bloc will secure victory, stressing that strengthening opposition unity is a political necessity in the face of escalating authoritarianism and fascistic tendencies.

A central concern of the meeting was the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise, under which large-scale deletions from electoral rolls are being carried out. The party expressed grave concern that migrant workers, Adivasis, Dalits and particularly Muslim voters are being disproportionately excluded under the pretext of “verification discrepancies”. Reports from Jharkhand indicate that in some constituencies, including Baghodar Assembly area, nearly 1.40 lakh names have been removed from the voter list. The State Committee resolved to launch a “Save Vote Campaign” and to intervene widely among the people to resist this systematic disenfranchisement and defend universal suffrage.

The meeting also noted that similar irregularities and exclusionary practices are being reported in multiple states, including West Bengal, marking an unprecedented assault on democratic processes and electoral integrity in the country’s history. The party described this as a systematic subversion of democratic institutions and electoral safeguards.

The State Committee strongly supported the ongoing student and youth movements across the country against repeated paper leaks, corruption, and irregularities in examinations such as NEET, CUET, CBSE, SSC and others. It noted that the anger of students and young people has now moved beyond social media onto the streets. CPI(ML) demanded the resignation of the Union Education Minister, the dismantling of the National Testing Agency (NTA), and the establishment of a transparent, accountable and credible examination system.

The meeting also discussed the deepening economic crisis, highlighting the weakening currency, rising inflation, unemployment, pressure on foreign exchange reserves, and the impact of corporate-driven economic policies on ordinary people. It warned that attempts are being made to divert attention from structural economic distress through geopolitical conflicts, including the ongoing war against Iran and disruptions in global oil and gas supply chains. The party reiterated its opposition to privatisation, cuts in public expenditure, and pro-corporate policies, and demanded increased public investment, employment security, control over inflation, and policies that enhance the incomes of workers, farmers and the poor.

The State Committee decided to launch a nationwide campaign from 16 July to August with slogans including “Control Prices, Provide Jobs, Ensure Living Wages”, “End Bulldozer Raj”, “Restore Voting Rights for All Citizens”, and “Stop the Criminalisation of Citizens”, along with sustained struggles against inflation, unemployment, poverty, and authoritarianism.

During the meeting, large delegations from the Gondalpura “Save Agriculture” movement and Adivasi activists from Khunti met the party leadership and formally joined the organisation in the presence of General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya, reflecting the strengthening of mass movements at the grassroots level in Jharkhand.

The press briefing was addressed by General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya along with State Secretary Manoj Bhakt, Polit Bureau member Haldhar Mahato, and MLAs Arup Chatterjee and Chandradev Mahato.
